Reflection

My research has confirmed my language belief by showing that the language you speak defines you by showing personality. What I now want to add to my language belief is that when you are learning a new language it tests your learning capabilities.
Question soon to be answered:
1.
Where you live affect learning a knew language?
2. How you are raised...?
3. How your teacher teach...?
4. Does your everyday schedule affect your learning capabilities?

Recommendations

If I had to continue my research I would look up locations where kids have the most trouble learning and try to find out if where they live is why they're having trouble in school. What I learned was that was it doesn't matter which language you learned first it depends on your learning capabilities. What I need to study more in depth is if other languages have a level of difficulty.

Conclusion

The research( primary and secondary), I collected showed that it depends on your learning capabilities than your language. I say this because my mom and my two uncles, all lived under the same rules and language and she was the only one who learned english the quickest. What you can learn from my research is that if you study anough you can learn any language.

Sources

I used Galileo; I put in hispanics, Puerto Rico, and bilingual in the keywords space.
I got two articles:
The first one was about hispanic dropouts.
The second was about Puerto Rican heritage.

Research Question(s)

Does it depend on knowing a kind of language to learn another?

Does it have to do with the language you know or your learning capabilities if you want to learn a second language?

Research Goal

I want to know if it depends on the language you speak or your learning capabilities to learn a new language and be taught in that language. I want to know this because for some people its hard to learn a second languages and for some it isn't, and it seems that it would be someones learning capabilities. But I am not sure if which language you know counts too.

Interpretation of Data

The data meant that people have diffrent ways and similar ways to learn a second language in my case ,Spanish and English. What my data showed was that people had the same and diffrent interpretations on learning a second language.

Preparation Research

I will have five subjects who are are Lissett (mom), Jhalen (brother), Sofia, Tommy, Evan. I will collect my data by giving them surveys. On the survey I have eight questions. My surveys are for people who can speak two languages.

Secondary Research

I had read a article about hispanic dropouts. This article explained how hispanic children, who learned spanish first, had a hard time in school. This article gave me ideas about my survey. Like asking if learning a second language was hard or not? For some hispanic children its hard to learn a second language, but it does depend who is trying to learn a second language.

Article Summary:
Foreigners that move to America usually don't know english. Their children would go to school without knowing english and it would be hard for hispanic children to learn. The Hispanic community have a higher percent to dropout or fail school than African Americans and Caucasians.

Research Plan

How I will answer my questions?
Hmmm, let me think, I believe I will make a survey for people who are bilingual, and see if hispanics have the same kind of langauge experiences. Like... asking about which langauge you learned first or how the experience of learning two languages affected you.
What sources do I hope to find?
I will hope to find hispanics who had the pleasure of telling their tale of vanquishing two languages(English and Spanish) .
Whom will I interveiw?
I wonder? Maybe, I should survey my mom. Yes, that's a great idea. But i do not know if any other person who would want to take my survey. So, if any one sees this survey ask S.Santiago to get a copy.

My Language Beliefs

What I currently believe about language is that it describes anyone who uses it. I think this way because when we had guess speakers in the class they all talked in different ways like in volume and accent, or when we watched that different language video in class. In the video there were a southern speaker and northern speaker, and they had to say "little lamb" nursery rhyme.
